Okidi Has the Team Locked In for the City Stars Showdown

City Stars are coming to the Coast and Coach Okidi has one thing on his mind. Three points and a statement to the rest of the league.

Training has had a different feel this week. Something is brewing in the Mombasa United camp and anyone who has been around the squad can sense it. Coach Okidi has his players locked in, sharp and ready. City Stars are making the trip to the Coast and the preparation has been nothing short of serious.

For the coach this game means everything. Home ground, home crowd, a chance to send a message to every team sitting above them on the table. Mombasa United are not here to make up the numbers and Okidi has made that very clear to his squad all week.

His sessions have been intense and detailed. Structure, discipline, tempo control from the first whistle. He wants his side to dictate the match and make City Stars uncomfortable from the moment the referee blows for kickoff.

Giving Credit Where It Is Due

"City Stars are a very good side. I have a lot of respect for what they have built. They are organised, they are difficult to break down and they know how to hurt you if you switch off for even a second. You cannot take a team like that lightly and we are not going to. We have done our homework and we know what is coming."

That is the kind of honesty that separates a good coach from a great one. Okidi is not interested in mind games or bulletin board material. He knows the quality of the opponent and he has prepared his team accordingly.

But the Hunger Is Real

"At the same time I want us to focus on who we are. We want to be champions. That is not something we are hiding. We are going for number one and every single home game is a massive opportunity to make that known to the rest of the league. Our fans will be in the stands, the ground will be loud and my players know exactly what is expected of them."

"The league title does not fall into your lap. It comes from moments exactly like this one. Big game at home, big crowd behind you, big opponent in front of you. This is where you find out what a team is made of. And I like what this group is made of."

Making the Coast a Fortress

There is something about Mombasa United at home that gets under the skin of visiting sides. The noise from the stands, the heat, the passion of a fanbase that genuinely believes in what this club is doing. Okidi wants his players to use every single bit of that energy and turn it into fuel on the pitch.

City Stars will arrive with a plan. They always do. But Okidi has a plan of his own and his squad has been built for exactly these kinds of moments. Three points. A statement. And one more step towards the title they have been working for since day one.

Coach Okidi. Mombasa United FC. Eyes on number one.
